Child Abuse

Justice is very fair in the world. I have a few articles on child abuse. Child abuse is very unfair to the child because they end up dead and the parent(s) end up in jail with no parole. Therefore, child abuse should have never existed.
Parents who physically abuse their own spouse are most likely to abuse their own children. Kids resulting from unintended pregnancies are sometimes likely to be abused and/or neglected. Drinking can also lead to child abuse. One study found that parents with documented substance abuse, most commonly alcohol, cocaine, and heroin, were also much more likely to mistreat their children and reject court-ordered services and treatments.
I heard two myths about child abuse. Myth 1: child abuse doesn’t happen in “good” families. Myth 2: abused children grow up to be abusers like their parents.

Tell Right Away
A child being seriously harmed should tell a trusted adult right away. Talk to the trusted adult in person or on the phone. Write an email, note or send a letter. Tell a school counselor, school nurse, teacher, or coach. Tell a friend’s mom, dad, big brother, or big sister.

  1. Child abuse is an issue that needs a solution; It changes children physically, mentally, and emotionally. I always thought that the person who abuses the child always gets away with it, but after reading this post I learned that the person can be caught and pressed charges. To make this blog post even stronger, the author should use statistics. But who would want their parents in jail?

  2. "I think that child abuse is one of the most common things that happen to children. the most interesting fact to me is that acoholic can effect child abuse because liquor takes over the mind of a human. one constructive criticism is putting hands on a child constantly , that is not call discipline. what they could of added was an example of a common kid who was into child abuse constantly and what was the consequences towards him keep getting abused."-TH (LAL2 student)

  3. Roger and Tiera--you both make good points. It is scary that it is such a common occurrance in our country, and so I think another interesting aspect to consider might've been laws that have been enacted as a result of high-profile child abuse cases in addition to the demographics of those who often become victims and abusers.
