Injustice is defined as "The quality or fact of being unjust; indequity. Violation of the rights of others." Specifically , racial injustice pertains to "one race or the races of humankind, arising, occuring, or existing because of differences between races or racial attitudes: racial conflict;racial motiviations."
My grandparents grew up during the Civil Rights era. My grandmother attended the march on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and attended several of his rallies. I remember her showing me the "Eyes on the Prize", American Civil Rights Years 1954-1965 and from the Internet series on Racial Injustices. Having a grandmother who fought for Civil Rights makes it even clearer to that racial injustice is still a problem today and it needs to be stopped.
I have feelings of anger when I see how the black boy, Emmett Till was viciously murdered because of the color of his skin for whistling at a white woman and now you see white woman naked all over the media, so where is the justice. Then it makes me even madder how our little girls attending church was blown up and killed by sick, evil, grown men because of hatred of black people.
Racial injustice is done by people who do not understand or is intolerant of someone who is different from them. The reason I feel that racial injustice is allowed because of the ignorance and unwillingness of people to obey the laws of the Bible and the laws of the land, which states that all men are created equally and should be treated the same. Racial injustice thrives most when people want to have power and authority over others. Racial Injustice grows out of greed, and people's thoughts that they are better than others.
I have never had an experience of Racial Injustice, nor have I seen it done to someone else , and I do not want to ever see it. However whether this is racial injustice, I do not know, but I seen police officers in my neighborhood take advantage of their jobs by harassing and speaking wrong to others. In our neighborhoods I have observed that cops use excessive force, with guns, dogs, and are quick to use the nigger word. This kind of behavior is and injustice, because this is not equal treatment to black people and they always get away with it. I aslo think it is unfair for us because we have no say in this. They have more power than us and that's why they feel it is okay to treat us any kind of way.
I liked how you choose racial injustice you put supporting detail into it. But not just normal boring information you put amazing detial in it. You had a connection with what you were writing about which was great. It is interesting how your grandmother was in the march with Dr. marting luther king jr. Like i said before amazing and you was ryhmeing alittle their nice. I have one question for you though why did you choose this topic?
ReplyDeleteSteve, as a poet I see how you would appreciate the rhythm and flow of her piece! I agree that she chose an important topic and used important historical examples to connect what has happened in our country's past to the fact that it is still going on today.
